The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to contemporary Japanese to those who have a very basic undestanding of it. By the end of the course, students will have acquired an essential working vocabulary and the grammatical structures that enable them to communicate within a limited range of situations. The cultural context underlying the use of Japanese is explored so that learners will have an appreciation and an awareness of appropriate language use.
This course is intended as a continuation course for those who have taken Essential Japanese 1. For those who have not, it will be necessary to complete a Needs Analysis Form and to send this back to the Language Centre not less than two weeks prior to the scheduled start of the course.
