Join us for an evening of acoustic music and nature soundscapes with singer-songwriter Merlyn Driver. This evening offers the experience to hear songs from his upcoming debut album, It Was Also Sometimes Daylight, which is set for release in October 2025.

Merlyn's sound draws on folk, as well as other global and contemporary influences to create a meditative atmosphere that reflects on life, memory, and our connection to nature. He will be joined by leading fiddle player Owen Spafford, who will add even more depth and richness to this musical experience.

More Information

Join us for a special evening of acoustic music and nature soundscapes with Orkney-born singer songwriter Merlyn Driver. A SOAS alumnus, Merlyn's work spans field recording, anthropology, and global musical traditions.

Merlyn will perform songs from his debut album, It Was Also Sometimes Daylight. Set for release in October 2025, the record is an intimate meditation on life, memory, nature, and childhood - shaped as much by acoustic folk and contemporary influences as by the rhythms and textures of the natural world. Merlyn will be joined by leading fiddle player Owen Spafford, who will add even more depth and richness to this musical experience.

Merlyn’s debut solo album, It Was Also Sometimes Daylight, will be released in October 2025. Guests on the album include Owen Spafford (fiddle); Nathan Riki Thomson (double bass); Francesca Ter-Berg (cello); and various creatures including curlews, greenshank, blackbirds, wood sandpipers, barnacle geese, and multiple species of frogs and toads.
